Isissa Komada-John is a multidisciplinary artist and an independent designer and exhibition-maker. She makes small and mid-sized mixed-media drawings and works on paper that explore self concept, personal history, ancestry, and relationship dynamics. Her drawings time travel to give life to alternate versions of the past and create an empowered, magic-filled reality. Isissa has curated, designed, and organized 40+ exhibitions, reviewed in The New York Times, Hyperallergic, The Huffington Post, ARTINFO, and other publications. Born and raised in Brooklyn and Queens, New York, Isissa currently lives and makes home and art in Oakland, California.
